Member CheeseWeb have branched out of Belgium recently to post about their trip around the Golden Circle of Iceland – a country I haven’t been to but find fascinating, and it has certainly become a much more popular destination in recent years.
The Golden Circle is a popular tourist route in the south-west of Iceland and it covers three major (and beautiful) attractions. As a self-driving tour, it takes at least a day (probably longer is better).

Gullfoss Falls by markwallace
First stop is the Thingvellir National Park, which is both historically and geographically important to Iceland. Nearby are the Geysers of Haukadalur, where there are two main geysers which erupt on average every 5 to 10 minutes, so it’s easy to see some action! And finally, there’s the Gullfoss Waterfall (also known as the Golden Falls), a very dramatic set of falls indeed.
