The Delft city square, where the princes of Orange are buried, is pretty impressive and worthy of visiting. Niueve Kerk and the Renaissance style City Hall greet both you and residents alike and many civic ceremonies are performed here.
Oude Kerk, burial place of Vermeer and a grand Roman-Catholic Gothic church, are just down the road. The City Cafe (previously the Weigh House, now complete with 1647 scales) is both functional and historic. It serves a selection of colourful, traditionally Dutch, nibbles.
If you’re in the Netherlands and you don’t just fancy trying to get around Amsterdam, you should visit beautiful Oostvaardersplassen nature park.
