The local wine shop will also give invaluable advice on how to best enjoy a particular type and brand of wine, but you must not be afraid to ask – they’re only too happy to share their wealth of experience. And don’t expect similar treatment from bulk/cheap wine sellers – so, there’s the hidden price tag!
When shopping for French wine, don’t let the English language be a barrier; indeed, what better opportunity to try a little communication with the locals!
Local wine shop manager’s recommendations are to be trusted and they may lead to bargain prices as well. Repeat business equals fidelity which may eventually become a recommendation to buy or, god forbid, avoid and even possibly a discount.
And even if you fail to get the perfect wine the first time, you will succeed eventually, especially when trying to match wine with food. Who knows, you may even teach the local French shop managers a thing or two!
