Partner blog My Melange write on Visiting Celtic France (Brittany). Brittany’s location and unusual blend of culture plus activities make it an ideal location for travel in Europe.

This coastal region of the French northwest is packed with both Breton and Celtic culture present in ancient ruins, local art and even drink!
Sea/river kayakers pay attention!Brittany water sports are possible both inland and coastally, due to the ample waterways and gorgeous ragged coastline.
There are hiking and biking trails galore and the area is well renown for walks ranging from the gentle to strenuous. For the less physically-inclined/more arty-types, contemporary art and galleries like Musee des Beaux Arts abound.
For an unusual and potentially healing activity, visit a thalassotherapy center and let the sea water soak those calming minerals into your body (well, we humans are supposed to have evolved from some type of semi-aquatic monkey after all, so a desire to return to water could be in our DNA!)
August might be a good time to visit Brittany, as many festivals including Celtic-related are held then. Also, this Atlantic-facing part of northern France has the potential to be that much cooler than the South in August.
Considering its location, travel to Europe could well start (or end) in Brittany. If you find yourself there, try visiting beautiful Quimper, the place of meeting for 3 amazing rivers.
