Partner Whl Travel describe an Easter morning in Lithuania’s countryside.

Lithuania: Easter morning mists, by c r z
The authors describe participating in a breakfast with a Lithuanian family and friends in the middle of the countryside (i.e. nowhere!) They consider feelings of consciousness and subconsciousness opening to nature and the people, quite reminiscent of passages in Jack Kerouac’s classic novel “On the Road”.
Lithuania’s open countryside ensures the ongoing strength of traditional values and doing things the old fashioned way (i.e. the corrrect way) and slowly, best witnessed during the family festival celebrations of Easter.
Traditional Lithuanian Easter is not only related to their Christian beliefs, but also strongly signifies the rejuvenation of nature and return of life (after the death-like qualities of winter).
The traditional Easter family food includes eggs, roast piglet and baked lamb, all blessed with three prayers asking for peace. The egg with the strongest cell, chosen on the basis of having cracked the shells of others in competition, signifies strength for the owner. (This tradition is not unique to Lithuania, it is also found elsewhere, e.g. in Greece)
At any rate, the authors provide a link to arrange for you to sit with a Lithuanian family at an Easter table if you so wish! Sounds like an interesting idea if you’re planning a Europe vacation to that area in the Spring.
