Partner eurocheapo describes the stunning Acropolis museum in Athens which opened in 2009.

New Acropolis Museum, by MPD01605
The museum contains 4,000 artifacts and the glass floors permit one to view excavations directly under their feet. The €130 million spend resulted in an ultra-modern four-level structure with everything a modern museum should contain. The museum is right in the path for discovering central Athens on foot, and the upper floors provide an excellent view of the ancient/modern city mix.
Sculptures from 600 to 79B.C include the magnificent four Caryatids and models of Greek gods and heroes. There are also metopes, friezes and giant pediments.
The Greeks feel that now, when an appropriate museum has been built, there are few if any reasons left for the British not to return the Elgin Marbles. These had had been removed from the Acropolis between 1801 to 1812 by obtaining a controversial permission from the Ottoman authorities (then in charge of Greece) and include about half of the surviving sculptures of the Parthenon.
The standard admission fee is 5 euro and 3 euro for concessions.
Have you visited the Acropolis Museum, how would you rate it?
