Partner Eyeflare takes us for a virtual walk through Amstrerdam’s tulip museum. It is an excellent idea for a place to visit, especially if you are short of time to go to gardens such as Keukenhof near Liss with its 7 million (or thereabouts!) flowering bulbs planted annually.

The cool little Tulip museum is very off the beaten track and provides some extra knowledge you wouldn’t find in the other city museums. It is amazing that it keeps open without any marketing and/or staff budget.

For the small fee of 1 euro, there is a short video on the history and interesting facts on tulips followed by a tour. There also bulbs including (in addition to tulips!) muscari, hyacinth, and allium. Also an excellent choice of books and other articles with the tulip motif.

The tulip season in Holland is last week in March to mid-May, with possibly the best time to see the variety on display being mid-April.

Even if you don’t make it to the Tulip Museum or Keukenhof you can still admire tulip adorned ladies toilets at Amsterdam Airport.

Another good time to visit Amsterdam is around the second week in September for the free heritage days.
