Off to Europe describe their 2-day stay in Germany’s Berlin. They suggest starting in Mitte, the historic center of Berlin.

View on Berlin Mitte (Germany), by werkunz1
At the Mitte you will experience the influence of Prussian culture at its finest. MUST see: the Alexanderplatz, and MUST stroll through Unter den Linden which offers some of the best architecture in the city. You can also visit Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom), the Pleasure Garden (Lustgarten), and Museum’s Island (Museumsinsel) and the Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s western center, for pleasantly spending your excess Euros. Cullinary delights may include currywurst (fried sausage slathered with curry ketchup) and a drink of Berliner Weiße!
Second day’s start should be at the old summer residence of the kings of Prussia, Charlottenburg Palace (Schloss Charlottenburg) for art and architecture, plus walks around ornate gardens and small lakes. Nearby is the home of the Berggruen Collection, where you can feast (your eyes) on modern art. Then on to the Mitte’s Nikolai Quarter (Nikolaiviertel) for a trip back in time, followed by a visit to the old Jewish quarters featuring a restored synagogue and cultural center.
