The towns of Segesta and Erice became the major cities of the Mediterranean area under Hellenistic (Greek) influence. Of particular beauty are the temple of Segesta, which is in Doric style and one of the most perfect to survive from Antiquity, and the theatre that was dug into the rock of the hill.
