The Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales is an ideal day trip from the Welsh capital of Cardiff. It was really lucky during my visit that we spotted three wild ponies, one of them being a foal, whilst driving along a minor road. You’re most likely to spot the wild ponies at the eastern end of the Brecon Beacons National Park, where the moorland provides ideal grazing conditions.

However, even if you don’t manage to spot any wild ponies you still enjoy the wonderful countryside. There are lots of walking trails and the Visitor Centre serves tasty meals and snacks with outdoor seating avaiable.
