Why you should visit Scotland

Thanks for coming back. We really appreciate you visiting Top Travel Content Europe. Need RSS?

Andy Hayes’ post on Indie Travel Podcast gives you plenty of reasons to visit Scotland. The more rural areas such as The Borders and The Highlands are great for touring by car (forget drving around Edinburgh and Glasgow). You can enjoy some tasty (if not always terriblly healthy) food and drink. Scotland has plenty of history and culture to enjoy. The current low value of the pound sterling against many other currencies and the recession mean that costs are lower for overseas visitors than a couple of years ago.

I love Scotland, but then I’m Scottish, albeit in exile in NE England. Have you visited Scotland, what did you most like about it?

Ah, Scotland. Like you Karen, I can’t sing its praises highly enough. I’m not a Scot but also lived in NE England for many years and loved to go explore. The north is stunning and the pace of life and unassuming kindness and hospitality on the islands will leave a mark on all who venture there: we’ve visited Mull, Arran, Orkney and Shetland, and up in the far north west around Durness it feels like an island. And then you have the beauty of the Moray Firth, Ardnamurchan and Mallaig… I could go on!
There’s something about crossing into Scotland and driving on the Highland roads that lifts the spirits and makes you feel glad to be alive.
Enough.. go see it. It will be the highlight of any trip to Europe.

Thanks Andy for your eloquent descriptions of the delights of Scotland. I must admit I do miss the scenery in Scotland as I lived in centrail Scotland in the Stirling area for many years so places like The Trossachs, Perthshire and Fife could be reached in under an hour.
