Crossing Italy highlights “Three Reasons to Drive through Tuscany“, you can enjoy the winding country roads (well maybe not if you’re the one driving), visit pretty small villages and vineyards.

We drove through southern Tuscany in May 2008 and we did see some beautiful scenery, including the cliched fields of poppies. There’s a plethora of medieval hilltop villages you can explore. We were extremely fortunate to happen upon the Inflorata (floral street art) of the Corpus Domini Communion Procession in Fucecchio when we got lost one day.

Have you toured around Tuscany by car? My advice would be not to try to travel too far each day and end up spending ages in the car.
