The Italian island of Elba, best known as the location of Napoleon’s exile from 1814 – 1815, is a great destination for a relaxing beach holiday. It takes around one hour to reach Elba from the port of Piombino on the Tuscan coast.

The beach at the village of Seccheto, between the higher profile beaches of Cavoli and Fetovaia is recommended by Alexandra Korey of Arttrav, due to its refreshing, crystalline water and laid back atmosphere. Fortunately it’s free to enter the beach at Seccheto, with a hut renting out loungers and unbrellas at reasonable prices, unlike resorts such as Viareggio on the Tuscan Coast where you can pay up to 35 euro per person for entrance and beach furniture.
Have you visited Elba, what would you recommend doing and seeing on the island?
