The Edinburgh Mela is a multicultural festival taking place 7 – 9 August 2009 at place in Pilrig Park. Entrance costs £2 per person with kids under 12 free. The Mela programme is of the most culturally diverse during the Edinburgh Festival season, with jazz from Iran, African drums and Banghra music. There are workshops where you can learn skills such as Chinese knot basketing and henna painting.
I visited the Glasgow Mela in June 2009 and had a great time there, so I’m planning to go to the Edinburgh Mela.
