I found it amazing that British travel writer Mark Moxton, one of the original flashpackers, who has travelled all over the globe and walked in fantastic locations such as New Zealand and the Himalayas, says his favourite walking has been in the UK. He’s walked the length of Britain from Lands End to John O’Groats, as well as to every station on the London Underground network.

This echoes my own sentiment that we Brits don’t appreciate and/or enjoy what’s on our doorstep., as soon as we think holiday, we think jump on a plane. I have explored a lot of the UK but there are still some areas I haven’t visited. Some of my favourite walks in the UK are in Perthshire, Scotland.
Will the recession and the drop in the value of sterling be the trigger for more Brits to spend their leisure time on home shores?
