What’s the best way to travel between London Heathrow airport and central London to avoid paying over the odds? If you use the Heathrow Express rail link a return ticket valid for one month costs £32. The problem is that the Heathrow Express goes into Paddington station in the west of London and chances are you’ll still have to fork out another £4 each way for a single ticket on the Tube to get to and from your final destination. Whereas for £4 you could buy a Tube ticket which would take you from Heathrow to any Tube station.

So what would you choose, to spend £8 and endure the slower return journey into and back from central London or £40 for the quicker, more comfortable route? I suppose it depends what value you put on a bit more comfort and up to two hours of your time.
