The city of Kassel lies in the centre of Germany, close to the former border between East and West Germany. The city comes to life every five years as the venue of documenta, a world class exhibition of modern art. The exhibition started in 1955 and documenta 13 will run from 9 June to 16 September 2012.

Kassel is also home to the Brothers Grimm Museum, as the fairy tale penning siblings lived in the city for many years.
I have to admit that I ‘d never heard of Kassel before but I’ll remember it now for modern art and the Grimm brothers. Have you been to Kassel, what sticks in your mind from your visit?
