If you’re visiting Barcelona and feel like some respite from the urban environment, why not escape to El Poble Espanyol, a village created as a venue dedicated to art for the Barcelona Internation Exhibition of 1929. The village is located on the Montjuic Mountain and is easily reached by tourist bus, service bus, train or underground.

Other suggestions for getting off the beaten track in Barcelona include the contemporary museum MACBA and the Barcelona Museum of History. It’s worth comparing prices of holiday Barcelona apartments with Barcelona hotels, as an apartment may be better value for money if you save on eating out or are travelling in a group.
