Beware of forged currency from UK bureau de change

Watch out that you don’t get caught out with dodgy notes from a UK bureau de change. The problem is how do you know if the currency is geniune when you collect it? Even when it does happen it appears that the bureau de change deny liability as they are dispensing used notes and this leaves you without compensation.

Better make sure that you take your debit or credit card with you when you travel in case you end up with forged currency, so you have an alternative means of payment. I’d be very wary of carrying large amounts of currency with me, in case it’s stolen or lost as many travel insurance policies only cover you for up to £200 in cash.
